Let me tell you about her……
Nicole is a nurse researcher, rural woman, mother of three, and wife of former US Air Force Captain. She lives near Chariton, Iowa and is running for Iowa Senate District 12 which includes: Lucas, Wayne, Decatur, Clarke, Madison, Adair, and townships in Dallas, Union, and Appanoose County. This area is currently represented by Senate President Amy Sinclair who also the chair of the Education Committee. (We can all remember this past session regarding education, teachers, vouchers, and book bans).
Nicole was originally from Northwest Wisconsin where she grew up in a rural community on a dairy farm and describes herself as being very active in 4-H, the Catholic church, Girls Scouts, and sports.
She states I became so inspired by the rural women in my life that I obtained my PhD in nursing from the University of Iowa so that I could better understand and help rural Iowans.
I so like why she is running that I am sharing a direct quote, “I am so tired of politicians preying on rural values only to pass legislation that hurts rural people. It hurts and angers me to watch rural towns shrink and struggle, schools consolidate and continually be underfunded, and families struggle to make ends meet. Rural Iowa feeds America. We are the economic engine of Iowa, and we deserve a voice.”
Unlike the current Senator President and chair of the Education committee Nicole will strongly support education and teachers. She will work to revitalize rural communities and seek ways to truly improve access to healthcare and mental health services.
This phrase is from her campaign cowboy card, but I appreciate it so much I am giving the direct quote, “I will stop passing laws written by out of state special interest groups and create policies for Iowans by Iowans.”
As a Mom and wife who returned to graduate school with the responsibilities of family, it verifies to me that Nicole will be a very capable Senator. Please offer her your support with dollars, shoe leather, campaign calling, post cards, etc. We need her to represent Iowan’s values.
